Icarus: A Hot Mothership One-Shot
A downloadable module
You’re on the crew poised to make history on the prototype jump-ship Icarus. Today you’re going to prove that in-system FTL jumps can reduce interplanetary travel to a matter of minutes. Some say shooting a jump drive towards the sun is a bad idea, but Dr. Haste insists her new Coronal Plasma Manifold can harness this risk into free speed! Is this technology impossibly perfect? Will you earn your Innovation Bonus? Can you race across the surface of the sun?
Icarus is a Mothership One-Shot for 2-4 players with high-intensity, a twisted hook and some high-powered loot!
Icarus won several awards in the TripTech2 Game Jam:

CANNIBALISM ?!?! im sold
They're my core demographic!
Ran this yesterday and it was a ton of fun, great job!
Took us about 3 hours, and the ship exploded at the very last roll, but the players all had a blast both figuratively and literally.
I had 4 players so I replaced Charred Patch with the fourth PC's mirror, but I think if I did it again and (again) had a scientist PC I might replace Charred Haste with them instead.
It makes the timeline a bit easier to think about, and gives that Charred PC more visibility.
All in all though, very easy to run and a lot of fun.
My one ask would be a player-facing map - could literally be the (excellent) GM map with just the text and vents removed, but it would have been nice to be able to show them a proper one rather than my quick paint mockup.
Love it! I’ll see about a simple map! :)
I ran Icarus and it's a perfect Mothership one-shot!
If you REALLY, REALLY just have 2-3 hours to play (which I did) I would rank it higher than most of the standard recommended MoSh one-shot pamphlets. Nothing against them at all! but a more investigative focus can threaten to spiral into multiple sessions, whereas Icarus' GO GO GO vibe gets to the meat quickly.
Xiaofang! I’m so glad that it ran so well for you! Thanks for playing!
